Ifor Tyres

Does anyone have any recommendations for tyres for ifor trailers that might actually last until they are worn? They seem extremely prone to punctures, both the small wheels underneath and the larger wheels on the outside.

Are you putting enough air in them?. Ones on the outside of livestock trailers need 70psi, and the small ones under the trailer run at 90 psi.
Yes, but that’s part of the problem , they don’t seem to hold pressure for very long, and a compressor isn’t always at hand.

I get them off Ebay £75 to £85 a pair delivered so long as the edges of rims are clean I have no problems with holding air but as said keep them hard 90 psi for ones under trailer works out a lot cheaper than a lorry for small loads and you can do it at times to suit you with no waiting

It just seems that they are prone to losing air one way or another, don’t get anywhere near the same issues with car/tractor/pickup. Higher pressure got something to do with it?

I've never had any problems with punctures, loosing pressure or otherwise with ifor williams tyres, with the exception of the Maximiler tyres that are used as factory fit - they had a terrible habit of breaking the internal cords then blebbing.

My current Tri axle has nearly worn out its third set of tyres now without any problems.

Only problem I have had was when I harpooned one of the tyres with a buckrake. That was my own silly fault as I had no need to be anywhere near the trailer. Had a nail in one but otherwise they stay up and I have ten on the road.

Must be lucky.only ever had one puncture and one tyre explode in 19 years on two trailers.normally replace tyres when they get miss shaped when carcass starts to separate from the tread.never worn a tyre out though
