New dp120 14 foot ifor:

The cross brace struts for the top deck, there's one that has spacer blocks clamped inside either end.

Where does this go?

Does it go at the front, in the middle, right at the back below the wee panel, or at the front of the wee panel and under the back of the fold down decks?

How do you install the fold down rear ramp with the cord on it without tearing fingers open, swearing, and forgetting how difficult it was to load ewes in the old trailer with the two increasingly steep slopes?

Tricky figuring it out in the dark.

Answers gratefully received.....

The cross brace that’s got the bits in the end goes at the front, though they don’t make a lot of difference! I have never had much bother with the ramp with the cord, do it in daylight!

It goes at the front to be sure that that one cross brace does not jump out while loaded. If that one were to come out then the loaded small front section of the top deck could collapse on the sheep below.
It can also be used to allow you to use the bottom sheep division gate without having the decks folded down.

how reliable are they going to be long term?
Just changed our 10 to a 12 ft Gamic and have,so far,had no problems whatsoever with either of them. They are built for strength rather than looks and should go on for years. They make life so much easier for the operator and are less stressful on the sheep.I would NEVER go back to a standard deck trailer.

thanks for your reply, did your 10ft trailer have the electric deck/ramp?we have at present an ifor williams with the easy load ramp,(ha ha),but at least its mechanical,i presume the electric one works off the normal 7 pin socket or the newer 13 pin plug,? or extra switch in the towing vehicle?

The Houghton looks great but so is the price
well at least the good old ifors have good resale value !!
When I sold my old 10 ft Gamic the interest was unbelievable.I would suggest the Gamic holds it value better, pro rata.

It was a 10 ft Gamic with hydraulic deck which ran off a caravan charging 7 pin socket which kept a battery,on the Gamic, topped up.The new Gamic is wired directly to the pick up battery.
