Had a look at my trailer this morning and discovered theres abit of slop in the spring bushes ,,wondering if its replacing the complete leaf spring as they come with bushes or just pressing out the worn ones and renewing the bushes and bolts ,,I know which is the cheaper option but the trailer is 15 years old and on its original springs .
It gets alot of weighty work

Probably worth changing the complete assembly if you intend to keep the trailer. Spring steel does “relax” over time so its effectiveness lessens. Whether the new ones would last as long as the originals is quite another question. Value engineering tends to see cheaper components employed including steel spec’. Not suggesting that is what IW do, but would be worth asking the question.

I wish but I cant afford to ,,IW dealer offered £1600 part ex against a fully speced 10x5 tipper at shy of £5000 inc and I dont like the new design ,mines a TT105 ,much more solid

Tried Trailer Teck ,Barlows ,western towing and a few other but non of them sell full axle sets ,all seperate parts which gets a bit pricey .
Pik Trailers at Nottingham on ebay look the best price

1600 ex vat 5000 Inc vat? So about 2400 to swap after 15 years

No,1600 inc vat ,over 3000 to swap ,,their excuse was ,by the time it went through the workshop ,they would re sell it for 2500 +vat and Ive seen plenty on ebay priced at 2500-3000 but not selling ,,

I would just swap the springs, as at circa £50 each spring, it is far cheaper than a replacement trailer.

mines 32 years old I just replaced the bolts and it still carries 3500 or more with optimistic calculating

Pity Brigg springs are finished ,,could have got them to make a full set

Put new bushes in mine, stopped a lot of the rattling. One of the bolts was very worn, I expect it would have snapped before long.

If it’s just the bush at the front and you hear it rattling we replaced the bush only.just heated it a bit and thrashed it out,can’t remember but don’t think I cut it through.i do remember it was both front springs on ours only,took an hour tops from start to finish.it was just wiggling a little and noisy.certainly not as hard As I thought it would be.i think if you take out front bolts and lower with jockey wheel you can wedge it against the chassis to thrash it.sure someone will say not to heat it but mine heave been fine,must be six or eight years ago.

I like the rattling, I know the trailer is still there that way. [emoji23]

The bushes are easy to change as the spring stretches to let them move
A correct sized socket and a sound smack with a hammer will shift them
Probably easier than getting hanger bolts off
