IH 784 renew handbrake band

It's some years since I worked on IH ... has anyone ever renewed handbrake band on 784 through the side? The only way I have done it is to remove cab but this is flat deck something I have never driven never mind worked on

Not done one personally all by my own but seen it done and helped a few times when working for a dealer. If it’s done before and the cotter pin has been replaced by something nicer then it’s not too bad, if not you need a thinish wire rope to loop through the eye and back out and use it to pull, lever, swear, lever, pull, yank, swear, pull and yank to get it out!!

Have done a lot in my time, strong fingers is what you need, take the diff cooling pipe of, makes life a lot easier, short 7/8 spanner for the pipe fitting, have fun. !!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, did my 684 flat deck cab many years ago through the side. As said the cotter pin is the problem but do able. Just don`t drop the pin inside.good luck. And yes, it still works.

I’ve done loads of them ,I found cutting off the actuating spool and replacing it with a new one saved lots of time. Again strong fingers
