I was using my sons tractor today to move round bales, and I noticed for the first time that when on the road as soon as you give her full throttle she starts to blow oil out of the breather pipe. I can remember years ago the local IH agent putting some sort of adapter onto the breather pipe of tractors, to collect the oil and return it to the sump, but not any detail about it.
Anyone came across this problem, and if so how did you cure it? The pipe at the moment comes out of the plate on the side of the block, would it be feasible to move it to the rocker cover instead?

We had a 684 when I was a youngster. When it started blowing oil out the breather, it was because the bores were worn and combustion gas was pressurising the sump

This tractor had an engine rebuild just before we bought it, and it doesn't show any sign of engine breathing at other times.

Does it blow on full throttle when standing still? I.e. is it engine speed causing it rather than load? Is the oil level too high?

Yes its common to move the breather, they pour oil out when they are on an incline, buckraking especially.
