I am planning to drive my 1956 B250 around the coast of Cornwall- a round door to door trip of around 300 miles.
I have owned her for around 10 years and done nothing more arduous than short joy trips around the lanes and moor where we live.
Regarding maintenance she's had filters and oil replaced recently and seems to be tackling the steep hill roads without the normal hot smells and black smoke.
One consistent problem is a notable wobble coming from the front wheels to the steering wheel when at speed - to date I have let the pressure down on the front tyres which seems to help but not a 300 mile solution- any thoughts on this ?
The brakes are quite inefficient and need a lot of effort on the drivers part or using the gears - is this normal ?
It may be that I am over thinking the potential problems but is there any important pre trip work that I should be considering and should I take spares of anything which is likely to fail - if so what are the recommendations?
How many miles can I expect from a tank of diesel ?
Thanks in advance
Patrick
