Thanks for posting that as I suspect it would have been a long time before many of us saw it.As of yesterday the HSE released a change of informantion notice regarding the welding of all metals, it is now compulsory that respiratory protection is now worn when welding (including mild steel).
In your own workshop (personal use etc..) it isn't mandatory, however it is advisable but the new directive states that employers must provide either LEV or RPE for their staff and welders.does this mean we all need LEV systems in our workshops? Or will a suitable welding respirator do?
No problems, the industry has been going mad since it was announced yesterday. I've never had so many extraction enquiries in my life! Thanks for posting that as I suspect it would have been a long time before many of us saw it.
Sounds like a big marketing ploy I know, but health and safety are going to be coming down on companies hard in this regard. We wanted it to bring it to everyones attention.I think most of us have got wise to these threads now.
Certainly, something like the Parweld XR940A PAPR system would be appropriate for that use. £365 + VAT is the special we're doing on them currently, delivery, lenses and some filters included.@Welding Supplies Direct thanks for that. Can you post a link to what kind of respirator / mask is required, where to buy etc.
Something suitable for a hours use now and again and at a price to reflect that requirement. Not something designed and priced for 24/7 use.
Are there no simple respirators that do the job?Certainly, something like the Parweld XR940A PAPR system would be appropriate for that use. £365 + VAT is the special we're doing on them currently, delivery, lenses and some filters included.
