"Improving Our Lot" - Planned Holistic Grazing, for starters..

No worries (y)

You can see why I'm reluctant to "define" anything, or regulate regenerative agriculture now?
It's as much about a farmer's health as that of stock, crops, soil.... a farm with no poisons and a suicidally depressed manager is not regenerative either
Things are getting serious we’re now going to get out the farm map to see the most efficient way to split paddocks and move the water to them ??

Hi folks, I have a field which I moled sprayed and reseeded August September 2017. Hardly any of the sown species have survived, maybe 1% of the chicory and cocks foot and nothing else I can see. It's full of the undesirable stuff I tried to get rid of including loads of buttercups. ( It was previously used for horseyculture) I have mob grazed it a couple of times and took silage off it last year. Only grazing for the first time now and I'm realising that I should have put the sheep on there while we had them handy in the spring. What else can I do to improve please chaps?

Quite a bright day today, good for taking photos for once. Going to graze off a dark face (over their backs in the bottom pic) next and then it can have haybales dotted about on it for the springtime when it's wet. With this many animals it'd take me 170 days to get back here, so in our context we need twice as many calves in the mob.

Life is tough sometimes. I am just in the middle of lambing and I have a drama with the electric fencing for my paddocks. The neighbour who was allowing me to use his electricity for my fencer has sold and suddenly turned the power off without warning. The other two residents are reluctant to allow me to use their electricity. I bought the most powerful mains fencing unit I could buy last year. It takes in 30J and puts out 15J. I was wondering if it was possible to convert it to a solar panel energiser with an inverter. Does anyone know where I might find the information about such stuff?

A lot of the mid-sized energisers available here are able to be powered from 12V/solar as well as mains. What have you got?

Try searching online motor home or off grid living forums. They have very useful info on setting up solar PV systems.
