"Improving Our Lot" - Planned Holistic Grazing, for starters..

So I have finally come up for air!! I have managed to buy a second trailer for shipping water around the farm from an IBC tank. This one is going to be parked in the field as refillable water stockage. Has anyone found a company that sells attachments that connect from the IBC to black water pipe hoses that won't leak? Any advise would be gratefully received :D
You can get them on Amazon, that’s where we got ours from for the same job. Handy little water trailer converted from an old hay trailer. 3 ibc s and 2 troughs, just pick up and move it.

try searching ibc to 25mm pipe mpte

Looks a good cover crop grazing mix.

How much is that per acre? if you don’t mind me asking.
Cotswolds special mix £15.43/acre (1kg/acre), should have been 5kg/acre but added some spring oats out the bin plus spare linseed & sunflower to make it go further etc. Like the root & canopy/leaf diversity, could have done with sowing a month earlier. Waterlogged soil over winter is in a bad way.

Are you folks not getting much moisture still down south.
I was pondering the other day with regards to @holwellcourtfarm possibly having to bring his cows in before long due to no growth, how does it stack up financially as I’m guessing you have to buy fodder in from a fair way away too?

@Kiwi Pete how do your early cells in the cover crop look now for you? Have you had much recovery?

I’ve just bought in 44 big solid bales off hay as I felt it was cheap at £22 delivered to my mates spot across town as I can’t get the rig up my lane. Only take a Saturday morning to get them all home now.
Just need to get some straw in now then all set for winter.

Another question.
Is there anybody out in east anglia/ Great Yarmouth area doing any regen grazing/mob grazing etc in this thread?
Going on my holidays down there in a couple of weeks so trying to see if I can grab a farm tour or something for half a day or so.

Had a wee bit of recovery, must admit that I've not been around that way in the daylight for a while.

It will definitely be enough but their breaks will need to be a fair bit bigger until we get some growth

So, any suggestions for a cover crop ?
I have the chance at up to 35 acres of arable ground for the winter. Have put in rape/ kale hybrid with westerwolds before. Tend to get flea beetle troubles.
Its getting plenty late enough to grow a good crop of anything, but any ideas as to make the best of it?

Annual ryegrass/ oats/ vetch/ crimson clover/ neeps/ forage brassica

that's roughly what we'd try here

Wont be flea beetle prob this time of year , willneed a decent ph and a big of n to help it establish , but IR and redstart would be simple and fine (y)

Thus rainbow will make it start off quick, which is half the battle...

Flea beetle was a major issue this time last year.
The rain will of course make all the difference. Except we haven't had anything meaningful yet. Unreal how we've seen it go all round us this week. We normally get our share! Baled hay Monday afternoon, I'm guessing you had fair rain that day?
It would have been better left till Tuesday, but they were forecasting worse showers for Tuesday at that point, though it turned out as a lovely hay making day🙄

Whereabouts are you coming from? We are near Haverhill and you're welcome to come and see how not to do it.

Turnips + spring oats+ one broadleaf non brassica like forage peas + whatever is cheap that will feed the stock
