Informal Tenders

If putting a tender in for land would you write it & put it in yourself or get an agent for professional advice & let them set it out?
Done the former once before but thinking back it could have been a lot slicker. It was a bit basic but straight to the point...maybe even bordering on been blunt :(
Any thoughts please (y)

We used to do them ourselves and got plenty of interviews and positive feedback. Wouldn't want an agent doing it as it's hard to justify and fully understand a business plan done by someone else. Guess it depends how good you are at presenting things on paper.

As a former land agent I would recommend ignoring the Mickey Mouse suggestion!!! Whilst the 'bottom figure' is the major factor in tender situations, any back ground info you can give will all help. Are you tendering for FBT land or freehold purchase? Happy to provide some guidance.

As above, the first thing most will look at is the number at the bottom, but if you're in the right ballpark they will decide on the rest of the tender for tidiness, thought and supporting information. I've received tenders of all kinds, from back-of-fag packets to glossy bound documents. The back of fag packet ones didn't get the job, nor did the waffle ones but all were read thoroughly and we visited the finalists'' own farms to get a better feel for the people and what kind of job we thought they would do. The last one didn't go to the highest bidder, it went to the person with the best farm and attitude.

It's the first glimpse of your business. First impressions count for quite a lot.

Lots of "behind the scenes", goes on with these ?
Classic use to be they stated "o we don't just go for the top price",? But often they do and then the person after a year or so "can't afford it ", and appeal or arbitration to reduce when if they took the middle person figure tender they won't have been issues .
Certain persons "always", wins tenders too , nonsence if you know what I mean allegedly !
