International 884 dripping oil.

Bought a international 884 a few weeks ago. Only really starting to get through her little faults. All the usual stuff. O ring on the steering ram, stopper cable, alternator, lights not working, cab not dunged out in 20years.
I have a persistent oil drip from between the gearbox and back end. I have tried tightening the bolts but it's still dripping. Not a huge amount of oil about half cupfull over night. The hytran I use is very red and makes it look like gallons. Not to mention it's 11quid a gallon..
Not sure how to fix this. I assume there must be a gasket between these two housings. I don't want to split the tractor unless it's the last resort.
Im told there is a treatment for this. It's the hydraulic version of radweld. You put it in to the oil and it's supposed to block the drip.
Has anyone tried this stuff.
Or I'm thinking of splitting her just enough to put red silicon into the joint and bolting her back up. ? Don't know yet if this would work. Could I do this without disconnecting the cab or taking the cab off.
I'm all ears lads. What's your plan or experience. Stuffing a rag in on top of the belly plate is not an option ??

Is the fluid leaking from jiggling pin in bell housing or somewhere else?
From your description it is somewhere else so waste of time splitting
What cab is fitted?

No, the oil is dripping between the gearbox and back end. It's an oil bath that includes the trumpet housings too. Your too far up the tractor.. Engine, bell housing, gearbox and back end.

Cab is the sekura deluxe flat floor. Between the lp and the big cab

Is the gasket paper or just instant gasket?
Can I do it by parting the housings a couple of inches. IE Without getting into a spanner session. Is it a job for a professional mechanic. I had though of just parting it enough to get the point of the silocan gun in

No 1..Paper gasket.
Don't think you'll split it so easy either........

Can you see the middle bolt hole in the bottom of the gasket. That is where the drip is coming out between the two housings.
I'm told there is oil resistant red silicone that is deadly stuff. If I could just slacken the bolts and rest bothsides on a couple of jacks and pry them apart enough to get the stuff squeezed in. Who knows. I bet there are dowells between them too.. ?
Great fun..

Something tells me from replacing some synchros in a 685 years ago that the tractor won’t just split there, it needs something removed from inside first, but I could be wrong. Bound to be someone on here that knows for definate.

It is a long time since I worked at IH
Dealer but from what I remember the pto shaft and clutch needs to be removed but not sure what else , but there are worse jobs

Jeez lads I'm getting a headache.
What about the additive for the oil.. It's not a huge flow.. Anyone ever seen this or tried it. It's just an oil bath no pressure

Think the pto may be the problem along with a circlip or two.....
@Gapples would be the knowledgable chap on these I'd think.

Indeed, you need the PTO shaft & clutch out, then a clip off & the PTO clutch drive gear comes off it will then split.
Those gaskets were not known for leaks though, so I'd guess it's a case of the bolts coming loose, or more likely it's been apart before & not reassembled very well.
Personally I'd get the cab off, see what you are doing, get the hydraulic top cover off, split it & do the job properly.

:ROFLMAO: We'd had our 885 for about a week, when I noticed little puddles of oil on the floor. Some seemed to be dripping from what looked like a small drain plug, so got the old adjustable spanner out and gave it a " tweek ". It turned out to be hollow, and sheared off. By the time I'd rushed round looking for suitable containers to hold the oil, it had all drained out.....
Oh well, backend 50 hour service early then......
Dad was cross, dealer was cross, fitter was cross........?‍♂️

This is also what I have been told. Most of the oils are becoming more like hytran. Just doing what international have been doing for years. The last hytran I bought was 12 quid a gallon. ???. Drips and leaks are not an option. Can't drive around with a saucepan under her. I'll tackle my me mlchanical engineering dept today and see what he say about getting it (the drip) stopped.
