Turn the tractor off, move the spool up and down through all 4 movements to releive any pressure. Sounds like your trying to use one Double acting spool as two. it might be worth you going on a basic tractor operation course as I think your missing how tractor hydraulics work, This is a basic 885XL with one Double acting spool which somone has fitted a free flow return on. dont go swapping any pipe work to different ports on your valve block if youve no idea on how they work as you will over ride the pressure releif valve and damage something expensive. ( generally the pump).

your pushing the hydraulics one way which will pressure the other pipe up, instead of putting the spool all the way to the bottom ( FLOAT) which should enable you to let the pressure out. take a photo of your topper your trying to run as theres something missing here. Either that or your spool valve has dropped an O ring and always pressuring one side. Where are you based?

as mentioned above, sounds like you have no float, maybe the rod is out of adjustment. There is a detent, so you will have to push it forward past the “click” point and It should stay forward.

I don’t understand your reply above. The fitting is pressurised every time you push the lever forward, this is the labouring of the engine you hear.
When you pull the lever to operate the right spool, pressure should be released from the left, and it is connected to the return.

When I mentioned back pressure, I meant pressure from the pipe on the tee fitting.
As mentioned before, where does this pipe go to?
You mentioned this has nothing to do with the problem, but if you have never used the left hand fitting, then how do you know.

Well spool problem sorted now, spoke to a agriculture technician bout all this, holding pressure in left hand quick release,he said even though you have replaced both LH and RH quick release couplings, the pipe that joins LH quick release coupling undo it then follow pipe back to the other end undo that, take pipe out and place a air gun in side and blow right through on to a bit of cardboard, just to see if there’s anything inside the pipe, which I did,(three bits of black rubber came out on to cardboard) Refit pipe back, then undo the pipe that operates power steering, down where the Hydraulic filter is,turn that about half a turn, keep the pull stop up while cranking engine, that should get all air out, done that, all is ok.i have only one lever in cab that stays in middle, pull it back, pressure on RH quick release coupling lever jumps back to middle, push lever down that pressures LH quick release coupling lever jumps up to middle, there is no four movements at all,no need for me to do any courses ,thankyou to the few that took time and effort in trying to help very much appreciate.

Sorted. Surprised you don't have a float position.

Should be a single black knobbed lever in cab operating a single spool valve on the back (handily shown with a black strip next to the quick release).
The next option was to add a double spool on a yellow lever in the cab. This would be fitted to the next row of holes on the back both coloured yellow. Theres space for a 3rd slice which could be a 2nd double acting spool on a blue knobbed lever in the cab. Black yellow then blue going from left to right in the cab.

I thought the single spool on the black knob was standard for the xl cab - but i'm guessing you could specify anything when ordering - although i'm not sure why you would connect the double to the black marked space for the single on the back of the tractor. Just saving up trouble later.....
