Toying with the idea of getting an inverter fitted in my lorry for running a kettle and microwave. Does anyone know what size I would need and a decent place to get one???

500A current draw @12V must have a heck of lot of batteries in there and one mutha alternator to keep it all going.i know of somebody who has an inverter in his van n runs all kind of stuff off it, including welder, think its 6kw

2x12 volt batteries n as far as i know just standard transit alternator
I Have the same thing in mine! 6000w Ring inverter, runs every thing i need, 100l compressor, inverter welder (although not for very long) 9" grinder all day long! wouldn't be with out it now!i know of somebody who has an inverter in his van n runs all kind of stuff off it, including welder, think its 6kw

I have two batteries and a split charging set up! the second battery is the biggest truck battery i could get, (not sure of the No.) it charges as your driving and holds a great charge can start the compressor about 10 -12 times without starting the van, the slit charge also insures the vans own battery never goes any lower than what will start the van.Presume you need the van engine running constantly to keep the battery topped up?
Plenty of kettles for sale which pull far less than this. Think you can get 12 volt ones tooif yer wana run a kettle you will need 3kw at least, thats a big inverter and wont last long with a kettle as the power draw is alot,
best stick to a 24v kettle or take a flask of hot water
