Pretty well. There have been so many iOS updates for later versions of phones & pads, that it will be so slow as to be almost unusable. Mine got so bad last year, that I sold it and bought a new one. I guess the answer is to stop it doing updates somehow, but too late once they're on.

Go into iTunes, and buy the apps you want through that. Once you've got them on your account as "purchased" (even if free) then you can download them to the iPad and it will only take the latest version your iPad iOS can use. Worth a shot and very handy for older iPhones that are no longer supporting the new iOS.

Tried that, doesn't work.
They don't provide an option any more to use last workable version.
