Not sure what farm use means. If it’s abuse, take more care of your phone. Think of an alternative pocket or more protective clothing. Maybe fit holders to all vehicles and machinery. Get those magnetic ones for iPhones. Use them rather than keep the phone in your pocket.
Fit a thin quality sleeve on it and a screen protector. Most of all, respect it as an expensive computer that you can’t afford to lose.
Do not be afraid to miss calls, so there’s no need to panic or fumble to remove from a pocket risking dropping it.
There are thousands of different brands and models of phone products, so choosing one is a personal decision based on whatever takes your fancy.

Unfortunately I accidentally left my phone on one of the combine rubber tracks, so I don’t expect any phone case
to survive being run over by that sort of weight :banghead:

Must admit that I upgraded from my nearly eight year old iPhone8 just yesterday. It had a new battery two years ago and has around 95% capacity left and is as new. Absolutely immaculate despite living in my pocket and in tractors, occasionally falling from its place in tractors to beside the seat or the floor. It always had a gel case covering its sides and back.

The new phone is bigger, so I shall certainly need proper phone holders fitted to all cars, pickups and tractors, which is something I’ll research on Amazon over this weekend. With the phone I bought a Benk brand thin protective case. It fits perfectly but I’m not sure whether it has the shock absorption to match the gel case I’m used to. The cameras [three of] stick out a fair bit from the back of this new one and if there’s one potential fault with the ‘Benk’ case is the the protective raised rim is hardly proud of the lenses. Only 0.3mm proud according to the Amazon page linked below. I reckon that it could be another 0.3 to be two thirds of a mm higher to provide more protection even though this would make it catch more on pockets when removing.
This is the case I bought. It will not suit everyone. Available for all models of iPhone
Benk basic phone case.

All iPhone 14 and 15 models are apparently MagSafe compatible so those are the holders, some with charging facility, some not, that I’m now shopping for.

Hoping for another eight years of service.
I bought the Pro model phone because these are apparently compatible with the forthcoming Apple Intelligence, which will roll out over the next two years. Also I’m a sucker for good cameras, which is why I’m concerned about lens protection.

I wrote the above having only had the set about 18 hours from unpacking it all. So no long term experience with the case or phone.

Completely my own fault.
Do you know if I buy a used unlocked iPhone 11/12 or 13 from Music Magpie whether the SIM card from my now defunct iPhone 8 will fit , many thanks.

Yes it will. I swapped my iPhone 8 SIM card into my new 15 Pro Max last night and it worked perfectly from the get-go.
If you want a perfect condition apart from the vibrator not working, iPhone 8 as a replacement, with case, I have one you can have for £50 plus postage, which is a bit less than the new battery cost less than two years ago, fitted at the Apple Store in Cardiff.
