Is it normal to be ignored by solicitors and to not be updated for weeks?

It's been like 3+ months now, having initially been given a rough timeline of 6-8 weeks, with no clear idea how near or far I am from the end of the process. It is only a tiny plot so should be very rudimentary for them if they would bother to do it I would think.

As I haven't bought land before I don't know if that is normal or they are leaving me hanging and the other side may be getting frustrated.

Try emailing them or texting them even. If they are a firm of solicitors and you are trying to get hold of one of their employees then that seems to be something you can drag up later if need be
They all seem the same now

Yes many solicitors are like this. Drives me mad as I am paying their (high hourly) wages FFS.

Recently moved solicitors. Explained why I was p'd off with the previous ones and what i expected of the new ones. Time will tell but theyt will get a rocket if they turn out to be as slow as the last ones became

I have been told by 'pro solicitor' people that they are very busy and you must leave the masters to do their work and not bother them with your pesky questions. That seems mad to me, what other professions would we be expected to not enquire to the status of how something is getting on for what we are paying for?
Another 1 that quickly comes to mind is accountants. My accounts are pretty simple id say, milk cheque in,some cattle sold with bills out. Theres always an odd question of whats such n such a transaction but only a handfull at most and it takes a few months to get it done with me ringing saying im gettin cheeky letters from hmrc a good few times. I always notice how the bill doesnt take months to be made up. Same with solicitors fees, the bill is deducted from the loan before i get the cheque from them today

It is rather ironic/frustrating to live a rural life yet still be tied to the 'money men (/women)' in the cities.

A company I'm part of are having trouble getting leaseholders to pay for repairs, the solicitors are absolutely useless drives me mad but the other directors just let it slide, it takes weeks to reply to emails etc, professional they certainly aren't
