My plows not out until April for spring barly10th of march is getting late for spring barley, never mind winter
Don't think I've quite finished drilling after all, 3 bags of 2020 wheat seed is making extremely heavy weather of coming up, busy roadside location, perfect.
Do you sit looking at 50% emergence and start season on back foot, or redrill now in good conditions; only fly in ointment is the 3 litres of pre-em PDM?
And no, I didn't do germ test, never ever had problem before with one year old seed with SP dressing
One for the Rook, one for the crow, one for the rot, one for the sow and one to dig out of the ground to show on TFF.You're going to need to plant more than that mate
Would the pre em be an issue in re drills.I bought some extra seed to finish off, Latitude dressed. I think it had been re-dressed and while it was packed 2021 I suspect it was some leftover from 2020. Like you it was very patchy emergence - bit the bullet a week ago to re-drill. Right by the road too, including the 4th turn of the headland of the adjacent field, so it looks a real drilling cock up. It had 0.6 Flufanacet/DFF and PDM pre-em too - as we have re-drilled with the Claydon I am hoping that there will still be some activity.

Have areas that were hit hard with 2 doses of v heavy rain to Re drill. Had flufanacet/dff
This time last year almost to the day I was walking a field of wheat which was drilled with previous years skyfall dressed with latitude. Agronomist said that if it was a few weeks earlier and as it was a very poor germination and that volunteer spring barley was abundant he would recommend spraying of with glypho and redrilling but as the weather had changed we will have to live with it. I generally avoided the 27 acres because it wasn't good for my health. Nephew put a bit of early N on it to try and get it moving but it was just happy being a awful looking crop even getting a bad covering of yellow rust forcing me in with a T0 which didn't please me having to spend on it.. April didn't improve it due to being dry and frosty. But skip a couple of months and nephew came out of the field having given it a cheap T2 and told me that it had really improved so when it came to a T3 I forced myself into the sprayer and I was really surprised at how well it looked, yes there were 2 crops there, a mixture of S Barley and W Wheat but we had already decided that it would be destined to feed the cattle.Don't think I've quite finished drilling after all, 3 bags of 2020 wheat seed is making extremely heavy weather of coming up, busy roadside location, perfect.

A few weeks later saw me hooking the header on and straight away we could see it wasn't going to be the disaster that we had thought
Estimated yield was 103 tons of the 27 acres, about 25 % S Barley and 75%Wheat
Icing on the cake was we sold it a month ago for £212 as per sample
Nope not a gambling man, we just put it down to more luck than judgement, I can't begin to tell you how shite it looked all the way from October to May. Ironicly on the flip side we won the local growing crop competition with a superb looking crop of Skyfall which although yielded okay the tank did not fill up as quick as we thought it might compared to the ears of wheat queuing up to be dragged under the augerCripes alive, all your stars really aligned there then. You play the lottery much?
Well, I’ve seen worse looking fields of barley at this time of year, feeling quite pleased with it really

I'm justooking forward to the 'commission' that will be due to us all for persuading @Phil P to drill it in the first placeGot to like that!
When Phil cuts it, it'll be like the conversation I have with my agronomist each year...I'm justooking forward to the 'commission' that will be due to us all for persuading @Phil P to drill it in the first place
