Is it worth trying to sell old kit, or do you scrap the lot?

I'm in declutter mode, and it wasn't till I started to sort it out did realise just how much junk I've accumulated.

Big Dutchman drives, Laco drives, about 30 Maywick brooders, 240v motors with pulleys on, corner wheel spares, old fans - there's tonnes of stuff. Most of it has been gathering dust for 20 years plus.

Anyway, I'm guessing it's a pretty common scenario across farms? I can't be unique in having a load of motors and no idea what they'd ever be used for. Has anyone tried ebaying this type of stuff? I'm guessing it's all pretty obsolete. The smart thing to do is chuck it in the trailer and cart it to the scrap man, right?

We take scrap into riddels ,they have a lad with a sthil saw , who cuts motors ,alternators etc open to sort ali from copper and the steel shafts ,how he has any feet left ,just puts one foot on them and cuts away ,
if your minded to process them be worth a lot more ,

Jeez, this is a nightmare question....

I always think that everything is worth something - and therefore keep it all

I then get the p*ss taken out of me by friends who say - "look just get a load of skips in and get rid of it all"

Occasionally I sell something at a good price and feel good - but it's hard work

Then I watch American Pickers where barns and barn full of gear contain Harleys, vintage bikes, enamel signs etc and toothless eighty year old turn down mega buck 'cos it's not enough

Ever been to a 'vintage' sale?

Keep everything! and let your kids deal with it when you're gone
