Is JLR going to go down the same route as Rover did?

Aye them new discos just look awful right enough . I quite liked the old ones as well.
I agree. The new Disco looks bloody awful from the outside. I bet they’re nice to drive, but that shape is going to take a lot of getting used to.

I am told that there is quite a demand for the mk 4’s because there is a lot of resistance to the new mk 5 shape.

I still haven’t got used to or like the shape of the RR sport compared to the last ones. They look like the roof slopes backwards to me.

The most important attribute to a vehicle is reliability
Without it those who need a vehicle to get from a to b without worry
Buy something else
Land Rover is at the bottom of the pile
No matter how good it looks or how posh it is if it is not reliable many customers never by a second one
The most profitable sales are repeat sales

They were terrible we had 2 years ago poor reliability and on the road the ride was terrible always felt like it was about to tip over !

Really? We did 110,000 miles over 9 years with it and I can't recall any reliability issues - apart for rust in the end.

It did find itself on its side, twice, right enough :ROFLMAO:

Engine cooling wasn't quite upto it (had to watch it towing on steep hills - it got hot a few times but never any issues), the anti roll bushes were made of chocolate and a cramped driving position were only faults we could give it.

Owned it from 94-03.
From 03-today, we have easily had more problems with the Defenders

But @Cowabunga says there's no need to hammer any vehicle off road  (I know what you're meaning, it can be a hard life for most vehicles)

Rust definitely their biggest issue - only reason you don't see any these days, enough were sold!

I'll agree I don't think it would stand upto the amount of hauling and off roading I'm doing now, but at the time we had less stock and ground. Dad used it as a car and it took the trailer to market.

I wouldn’t buy one if they were on sale today!

Had a swb trooper around the same time it was a better vehicle but softer . Defender after that I think.

I had a late model TD5 disco. top spec. lovely old truck. did everything i asked of it. albeit slowly with a fully loaded stock trailer.

However the 3.2 Ford Ranger auto knocks it for 6. its far more stable for towing, pulls like a bloody train, Is quick enough to get me my 1st speeding ticket for years, and comfy enough to do a 300 mile trip in without feeling knackered at the end of it

Yep for anyone that doesn't wake up 'at work' reliability is a big thing. The fact there is a lot of independent Land Rover specialists out there suggests a problem.
Everyone else just goes to a car mechanic to keep out of warranty stuff on the road.

There are a lot of old Land Rover cars about and Land Rover enthusiasts and the parts are readily available. I think that’s where this Market has evolved - to cater for them, plus land rover dealers are charging around £120/hr. I think the non franchised guys are £70-80.
