Is UTTO oil better for transmissions than Universal Engine and Trans oil?

agree with balerman stick to seperate oils. if its all ok now carry on as you are

Made the mistake of putting stou (universal engine and gearbox) into my Deutz back end instead of utto once.
Clutch pack behaviour was ok after a recalibration, but the brake noise was horrific.
Definitely use utto if it's recommended.
oil is oil to a lot of folk, and that i somewhat understand, they would say, sure its all the same stuff that comes out of the ground, but i say its what they do to it after that counts.
i was never of the belief that one oil could cover a transmission and an engine in one foul swoop, imo its just a marketing ploy to sell oil that's handy the day you buy as it's a one size fits all but in the long run there will be repercussions imo.
universal oil was grand back in the days but now machines require a more item specific oil.
i only use a transmission oil for the transmissions and an engine oil for the engines.
i only use Mobil oil here but that's personal choice, its a bit dearer than the run of the mill oils but i like the performance it gives.
certain "tractor brand" oils are not what they are cracked up to be so be wary and stay with a quality oil, it ill pay off in the long run and as Drdunc says, use whats recommended or an above spec oil.
