Those Daihatsu were the work of the devil. Remember borrowing one one day to tow a shearing trailer home. Whole journey 25mph yet never moved behind land rover at 60mph.
I had a Daihatsu, had to move the hitch up a few inches and it was fine towing at 60 with the GE, shame they rusted so bad.

I remember following a mutual friend of ours to Longtown with BF ewes, I was really nervous watching his trailer swaying about but he claimed not to know anything about it 😲

Thread update. Ordered a 12' twin axle Tuffmac with sheep decks for £7,850 yesterday, expecting delivery within three weeks. Will let you know how it goes and thanks to everyone for their input.
What is their deck system like? What other quotes did you get - in same boat as you soon.

Good luck and safe hauling.(y)

Reckon deck system better than Nugent as no space lost and door doesn't seem so heavy. Best quotes I could get were Nugent £9,050 , Ivor Williams £8,400 with Tuffmac at £7,850(add £160 to get to Stranraer). All for 12' twin axle with sheep decks and dividing gates. Will try to post pictures when I get new trailer home. Local farmer who has had his Tuffmac for 4 years really sold it to me.

Do the 13" wheels that are used on the Falcon and the underslung IW trailers travel okay in fields?
Handling facilities at out farm are accessed via field that is reasonably free draining.
Would these wheels have a tendency to plough moreso than the land rover type wheels?

Back home, we used to have an older IW with LR wheels on and another with the smaller wheels under. The rolling resistance was noticeably higher on the wheels under, especially when the ground got a bit softer.
My Gamic has 13" wheels on the outside, and if they ever cut in then the pick up shouldn't be on the field.

You forgot the bit where nobody can tell what the tare weight is of the other makes, so you don’t know if they can legally hold as much stock.

Ifor at least have that on their website.

aye but they don’t advertise the fact that 25mph is the max speed an ifor with the small wheels can tow at when it’s loaded! Unreal the number of fowk that don’t know it either!

Seen it on a plate inside one trailer, why is 25mph the max speed of just a Ifor? is it that none of other makes advertise it either so you don't know about it

i assume they have to plate it for legal reasons so if other males don’t have it they are probably ok to go faster!
