I know the feedback on this has been overwhelming !!!Good job you asked this on old muleys thread aswell
What’s the crack with the tb over there?well for what its worth regardless of how good his cattle are or how much they make, TB would put me off, end of.
I think everything that comes over has to be tested within 60 days of arrival. That’s the case with bulls anyway. What’s the crack with the tb over there?
That would require to be answered by some of the NI contingent for clarity & accuracyWhat’s the crack with the tb over there?
TB in N Ireland is much like any other region that their respective department has failed. That would require to be answered by some of the NI contingent for clarity & accuracy
It's pretty much like a dealers yard as far as movements go, in fact some dealers won't have as much going in and off their yards.TB in N Ireland is much like any other region that their respective department has failed.
Every herd is on an annual test and is closed if there is a skin reactor. The department deems neighbouring herds to anyone closed as high risk and they move to a 4 month test.
James is obviously open to trade much like anyone else not under restriction. With the amount of testing and moving going on, stock from his herd will probably have had more tests than mainland herds. I would say thats a good thing, heifers are batched for AI and remain batched. I think he vaccinates for BVD - or used to prior to the south banning imports of vaccinated livestock.
Any testing on arrival into buying herds is a requirement of the local department and should be taken up with them.
Well this is what my lad keeps saying to me but I haven’t managed to get into that systemIf they are cattle bred this side of the water is there any need to buy them from Ireland and have to pay a premium for the jalex name.....could buy bulling heifers this side of the water and bull them with your own good bulls.
