Help please! We have an old JCB 525-67 on the farm it’s been fine but now the steering only works in front wheel or crab. Turn the switch to 4 wheel steer the light come on but the rear wheels don’t turn? Changed the front proximity sensor as it was damaged and got a new one at great expense, the light comes the sensor and nothing different! Still no 4 wheel steer. Slackened the oil pipes off the rear steering rams to let any pressure out and still no joy! Any guidance greatly received as it’s a pain to stack bales in the shed! Help please!

This may seem very vague, but we had something similar with our 1994 525-58 when the wheels started going all ways in four wheel steer. In that case I believe it was cured by cleaning the contacts on the steering sensors with electrical contact cleaner aerosol. I wasn’t actually there when the problem was solved but it was definitely a quick and simple job to do: might just be worth trying this or asking someone who might know more about it.

Turns out it was the solenoid! Swapped over between crab and 4 wheel and it worked! But surprise surprise main dealer said the sensor was a special ordered in part so couldn’t be returned..... good way to burn £220! ?
