Wonder if anyone can help, my 2012 JCB Loadall has started to surge when travelling along a level road at medium revs, the surging stops when you floor the accelerator but starts surging again when you ease back, it doesn't do it under load going up a slight hill just on the level, any ideas what the problem might be?

First job change the fuel filters, also there could be a small fine mesh filter in the inlet to the lift pump.
Have changed fuel filters & will check mesh filter tomorrow but seems ok when you floor the throttle & doesn't seem to be under powered

It's the air filter. Lack of air means it draws more diesel. Might be a collapsing air pipe if not the filter.

PS. Not easy to see in a forklift but follow it and if it's puffing white smoke that's your problem, shortage of air.
