Jcb 926 mechanic wanted

I have an oldish jcb 926 that since Ive had it has issues with oil overheating. It seems the longer you drive it the less it wants to pull away or more effort is needed to move. When cold it’s great. Somon3 told me it may be the pump inside the transmission that may need replacing as its not pumping as hard when the oil is hot as it’s therefore thinner. Makes sense I suppose.

Also just today the Starter motor has also stopped engaging with the flywheel and when I removed the starter motor, both the starter and the ring gear are badly damaged. I now therefore feel it’s the time to remove and fix both issues but obviously will need the transmission or the whole engine lifted out to solve. I’m looking for someone with experience to carry out the work. I’m based near Leighton buzzard. Thanks.

Just done a box in a 926. Easy enough to drop it out.
A service exchange box is about £1500 inc torque converter and oil cooler.
parts to do it yourself is about half that but it's a reasonably specialist job to do.
it's not just as simple as fitting a new pump unfortunately

I would consider checking the oil cooler first . If it drives fine cold , and gets worse , maybe just the trans oil overheating . They are around £250 from jcb , so it’s a cheaper option . They have very small tubes that are easily blocked , if the coolant is struggling to pass through , it may find an easier route What’s the rest of the cooling system like ?
