It is a common argument on here that farming won't improve unless people get hungry and that this can't happen in the 'global' world.
There is a huge false sense of security that we can get whatever we want, from anywhere we want, almost immediately. This is fueling climate change and a complete lack of resilience.
The house of cards that is built on 'just in time' and global centralisations of production will be the cause of serious problems at some point.

There have been a few reports our of china saying how is will effect their gross national product. Vast areas of the country are shut down. So it was bound to have a knock on effect.
