Jcb registering hours when switched off

having recently had the engine out of the jcb 530-70...the engine is back in and everything is working perfectly except the machine is clicking in the odometer and registering hours even when switched off

In any ideas why?

I had that on my 520s, a new altenator sorted it.

No the warning lamp goes straight off

Hmmm only had it overhauled last year...appears to be working fine

Wondered if you had managed to short the warning lamp wire (which usually triggers the hr meter) to the B+... Obvs not..

Count yourself lucky the clock works , mine shown 3800 for the last 10 years

Recently had same problem on 526S. Air con pump had worked loose off mounting bolts and damaged wiring to alternater. Wiring repaired, problem solved.

I know but I like to change the oil when it’s. Due...

No but it does 800 hours a year and I like to keep the oils changed on time

Sounds like wiring to me. Before the Rev counter has stopped sounds like it’s linked to the hour meter and alternator. At that age of machine they’re prone for wires going hard and brittle.
