Hi

I have a 1978 JD 2030 with OPU CAB and need a wiring diagram for a replacement Starter Switch part no AL62707.

I have tried JD and they don't have wiring diagram - neither does the online manual that i purchased.

I am trying to get the tractor starting on the key opposed to screwdriver...

Any help welcome.

Thanks

I am not familiar with the tractor , but it should not be too complex.
There will be be essentially, 4 wires to the switch.
The power wire is live all the time. This wire comes from the large terminal feeding the starter, from the battery
Then there is the ignition wire which should feed back to the alternator via the dynamo. Also supplies power elswhere.
The third one is to a heat start, if their is one.
The fourth the engine start feed to the starter solenoid.
Take your switch and with a volt meter check out which positions have nil resistance at different points of the movement.
This is the fiddly bit
You can do it by trial and error. The power feed is often a larger terminal. Check your off position, The first position must always light up the battery light etc.

Now Then,,,
I'll have a look in a bit..
OK, I looked on Service Advisor and much to my surprise,,, no 30 series or older is covered. We have the manual in paper format back at the workshop. I'll look in the next few days..
Did the fix you up with a new knob (L34972) to go on your switch
