Jd 6125m transmision air pump fault

This is my first thread so bere with me.We had a jd 6430 standard and bought a jd6125 m.I drove the tractor home and straight away it wasn't going right. When u came to a hill it would die down where the old 6430 would fly up.So I phone the dealer up and tell them it wasn't going right, and they tell me its new and it will alter after 500 hours! This was in march by the way.So we put the fert spinner on 540e 7 miles an hour and it was on its knees. So phone them and they come out with the dyno,it was giving 97,98 out on the shaft. And they say the same thing 'its a bit under but it'll alter after 500 hour!We have some land 10 miles away and my father went with the fert,so before he went I checked the tractor and saw their was no oil showing on the glass for the back end.So i put some in about 20 liters!!Nexed thing my old mans on the phone saying there something really wrong with the tractor.so phone them again and they come out after two hours and the mechanic says we've got to much oil in the back end and opens the plug to drain some out and he says you've coocked the back end!!so they take the tractor in and say that they didnt have a clue what was wrong. After a few days they phone and say its the air pump in the transmision and we've never had one go before! So we get the tractor back and we say that we aren't happy about the situation most of all the heat and ask for a replacement. They say no way and bring someone from jd to speak to us.I asked for 5 years waranty and he says ill have to get their service plan thats £85 a month!!So he offers 2 years on the air pump for the transmission, and also says that the heat would not affect the tractor.Any way we didn't take his offer and a month ago the air pump in the transmission went again. So thinking they will change it naw they're still not budging and aren't offering any more warranty. We asked to change and they wanted£5000 to change for the same thing!!Theres 430 hours on the clock and its been split 2.my question is what is reasonable for them to offer?

Let the finance company (hopefully on finance) deal with them.
And I haven't a clue what they are talking about, when you say air pump in the transmission, hopefully some of the other lads will be able to help.

What happens when the air pump is broken, the oil filles the transmission and lags it.Its like walking up to your neck in water,so the tractor has no power. The thing im worried about is if i stop the payments could i lose the tractor?

The air pump pushes the oil from the powerquad and range box, this stops oil drag in the trans and rangebox so no oil drag means no overheating the trans oil.

If you start the tractor and move it even for 30secs the oil will drag out into the transmission making the tractor look like it has no oil in it, you then spot that and top it up and then you drive it, the air pump will push the oil out of the trans/range if it can in to the diff housing and with the tractor being so over-full with oil it can still have oil in the trans/range. This then drags on components and causes overheating in the trans as with your code. Usually you can feel a huge drain in HP as this happens.

Overfilling the transmission can cause the air pump to break. 10 ltrs over wont usually break it tho as hilly conditions or big trailers with massive single acting rams can drain a lot of oil out with work. But 20 ltrs is pretty excessive and could cause the air pump to break.

How many times was the tractor over heated?.... Obviously the code 000177 came on and your dad stopped driving it and let it cool??. This code is an indicator and if hes stopped then i dont think the backend would be "cooked". As cooked sounds terminal and i dont think it would be.

Yes just the once. But what about the second time?Should i be worried about all the other bits that were in the oil,for example seals or breakes or pto pack?Would u be happy with 2 years waranty on the pump alone?

Ive seen ppl repeat overheat trans oil all day just to get the work done. Im not saying its right at all, but its not terminal for the machine. New oil and filters, oil sample the trans oil(cat dealers can do this at the dealerships expense) will plot down if anything is going on. The samples can check for seals, brake linings, metal etc in the hyd oil its a good tool if they can understand and plot the samples over a period of time. Maybe that might be a good start.

Well Ive seen it done like this before.

The dealership could do there own extended warranty- after all its there product and they will be sure its ok.. I would think.

Ok, you overfilled transmission. You were offered extra warranty but turned it down. Sorry but if it went to court that's how they would see it.
Wrong but true I'm affraid

Yes don't stop payments, but get advice on how to let your finance company know you are not happy with the tractor. Keep a note of all correspondence with the dealer/JD.

There is supposed to be an induction process when new machine is delivered,
outlining all the main points of good operation.
Was this carried out and you dident listen, or was this vital step skipped

This is our 3 jd.I picked the tractor up the dealer showed me what was new in the cab,not much really same cab as the 6430 but the dash is different.I noticed that the tractor wasn't right on the way home from the dealer first day.The dealer has said take it or leave it,but i would be happier if they would put some cover on the hole back end at least.Thay said it should be ok so why wont thay cover it?

The operators manual should show you how to correctly carry out daily checks, but does anyone read it? "topping up" with 20 litres would have had be looking for a problem.
From what nz tech says it sounds like you may have caused the first failure with overfilling (I do wonder if all was well from new though) but the second failure so soon would suggest a faulty part or an incorrect repair in which case the dealer should stand it, unless you overfilled it with oil again?
Maybe there is another problem causing the failure.

we had a new 6115m in march 14. When this tractor was delivered it was low on power as you had experienced. it went in and was put on the dyno and read in the region of 90hp on the pto. Some tweaking was done and was slightly improved.

We have an 11ton richard western which it wouldnt tip unless full of oil. so we fill it up with transmission oil. whilst buck raking on a steep pit during maize harvest last year the back end over heated.

The tractor went in and was returned the same day telling us we had left the handbrake on!
We put the tractor on a four furrow plough the next day and it over heated again.
This time the air pump was said to be the fault. and was replaced...

The tractor has done 1500 hours and is still crap. it is sluggish at low revs and still wont tip trailers properly.

We should have sent it back asap but as a loader tractor on a dairy farm we cant go a day without it.

Contact your finance company and advise them you are not satisfied.
But, probably John Deere in-house finance?
So professional advice needed
No good just making do, driving on, telling us, its just a waste of time ...............
