JD 6320 fwd/rev stiff

Hi, I’m looking for some advice please. The fwd/rev lever has gone very stiff/restricted. I’ve looked down the steering column where it coneccts to the push/pull cable and everything seems fine. I’ve tried to trace this along the side of the offside gearbox but was by myself so couldn’t be sure where the cable terminated/connected to the box (will have help tonight hopefully to identify) The tractor hasn’t been used for 3-4 weeks but as far as I’m aware there wasn’t a problem before. it’s hellish stiff but will engage both directions if really pushed or pulled. Any ideas what’s gone wrong? How to fix tips etc? Has anyone a digital copy of the technical manual? Was quoted a hellish price by JD dealer for one years ago so never bother to buy it.

cheers in advance, hopefully just gone stiff with sitting on in rain a few nights but as said hellish stiff/restricted movement

I’m presuming it’s an SE?
It will more than likely be the lining in the cable will have broken up, new cable will sort it.

However it’s worth checking the control linkage that goes through the bottom of the range box.
The cable connects to the arm no - 10 with the arrow on it.

It then operates a cross shaft through the transmission to the other side.
With the engine off disconnect the cable and see how it feels, then see if the shaft is free.

Hope that’s a little help.

Now Then..
I had one last month, very stiff shift and lots of play in the FNR lever. I put a new roll pin & bell crank on the bottom of the FNR lever and a new cable. I also oiled the ends of the shaft through the gearbox as I've seen them cause stiffness.. Make sure it's in park, handbrake applied and wheels chocked before diving under. ( Bit of health and safety there ?)

Disconnected cable - it was ok - spent sometime working the input level and spraying WD40 on all joints - 5 mins and all slackened out. Thanks to for advice. Any ideas on getting a workshop manual without paying a bomb ?

There was someone advertising various manuals in the classified section, not sure if they covered your model though.
There are some online companies that advertise manuals so worth a google.
