Jd 6910 fuel filter

Went to mechanic today. Completely stumped to what's wrong with it. Getting full diesel, even gave her a turn of fuel screw made no difference at all. Feels like something holding it back. Was told try take main air filter out and try but before Iv got chance when I got home there's puddle oil at back end now. I sense it'l soon be bye bye tractor as highly unreliable getting
How many hours has it done? Everybody wants a 6910

Not sure as dash isn't working proper. Wouldn't be at 9000 yet. I'd love to get it fully fixed and keep it. It seems to be one thing after another last few years with it

Probably a stupid question but shouldn't the main air filter push up with handle to unattach ? Iv never had it take it off before as when goes for service mechanic does it and never Had issues with temp or filter before

Did loss of power happen suddenly,I'm wondering if hydraulic pump is staying in stroke and pumping all the time as there is oil leak as well, just a thought?

Been a gradual thing over past few months. I use 2 spools for bale chopper and 3rd doesn't work right as won't take any pipes in so make do with other to.
I do have issues with the oil
Sight glass for backend. Oil seems to just not show up on it no matter what oil in it. I lent it to someone and looked at glass and was sure it was empty but doesn't show oil up no matter what's in it. That was before In January tho and was fine then power wise

Might be worth checking if any of air pipes from air filter are split or sucking in under high revs and have a quick look at turbo inlet pipe.

Any smoke out the exhaust? If you had lack of air you would get more black smoke. Lack of power and running hot usually point to running lean i.e. Lack of fuel.

No disrespect to your current mechanic, but I'd not be sending a tractor back not fixed? I usually sort oil leaks out too if the customer will allow me to. Sounds like you need to get someone to look at it for you, at least choose a good independent who's worked on Deere's before, sounds like a good day would have the majority of the faults fixed and certainly diagnosed at the very least?

I would say turning the fuel screw as a method of testing doesn't fill me with confidence, especially if the air filter hasn't been checked first, along with a whole host of other things such as injectors, system standby pressure, etc....

Mechanic closest to me is a ex John Deere mechanic. Have John Deere dealer 2 mins up road from me where he used to work. He's only one around that looks at John deeres and nothing else. Other man I have sent tractor to at times is a All sorts of tractor mechanic but mainly just new hollands. Only prob is it's a 45 min trip in tractor there each time and no way of getting it there as way it is now wouldn't do it much good as it's all on main roads so it'l get pretty warm. Man nearest me is awfully hard to get to do stuff at busy times and does what's needed and then wait till something else breaks or gets worse then back to get It fixed. Sent it to new Holland man 2 springs ago for full service and all probs that I had wrote a list and stuck it to window and came back fully working. I'm just Abit worried as it's my only main tractor that I use for all things in fields and little contracting and when I was told not much can be done about it it's made me worry

There is something very wrong with it,6910s are still sought after so surely it is worth having it gone through properly at the dealership.Could be a hydraulic valve sticking meaning its pumping all the time,a 45 minute journey on the road is certainly not what it needs if that's the case.

I felt it getting less power
While back but just got worse and worse. At moment it's not it fit to pull a tanker or even trailer to get straw. I'd love to get All fixed and tided up. I'd keep it for long as I could. As well as this prob it also has few oil leaks and find out where the puddle oil came from. It also needs alternator looked at

The proper main fuel filter is restricted to a 5 micron capacity so won’t tolerate too much dirt/water/sludge. Where are u filling diesel from? Is it an old steel tank or plastic tank, with either type of tank there will be bacteria which congeals into a sludge ( thanks to new diesel regs ) which can evade the main fuel filter and wreck the main injector pump. Last Jd 6410 I had with similar issues with I sent out pump to be overhauled , phone call to specialist revealed the pump was full of bacteria . To be honest this was a first for me , refitted pump and got customer to fit a tank water filter and drop a soc into the main tank( it attracts the bacteria) , no issues since. Your looking at a injector pump overhaul .

Just send it to agri power and get them to diagnose the fault at least, if they are as good of men up there as in the Donegal depot they will know the score

Drain main yard diesel tank to within 20 l , shake up tank and drain off into a bucket and you will be surprised at what comes out. Will be a jelly like substance . This will point u to a injector pump overhaul.

Last time I asked agri power about seeing tractor was a 3 week waiting list to be seen. But I wouldn't mind waiting if it was actually fixed

John Deere Dear John, no need to send it to local Jd , get local Mechanic to do the job who knows his stuff ,set up Timing on engine before removing pump

[emoji848][emoji848][emoji848][emoji848] don't get that down here, maybe you need to emphasize the importance of your problem
