Jd 6930 operating temperature

The temperature needle seems to sit quite low when doing light work, see picture.
But when picking silage or agitation it will sit at the halfway point.

The picture was taken after spreading slurry for a few hours, it seems to be running a bit cool for my liking. Any ideas?

Mine has been like that for a couple of years now on a really cold winter day you don't get much heat in the cab

It might be worth fitting an aftermarket temperature sensor at both ends of the engine - that will tell you what the temp actually is & whether you've got head gasket shedding pumping issues.

I think I'll replace the thermostat, cheapest solution first. I could get one of those ir heat guns and see if there's any variation in the heat of the engine.

Try a handheld infrared thermometer on the radiator.

Temp should be the same, (give or take a small ammount) whatever your doing it's controlled by the thermostat and system cap. I would suggest the thermostat is stuck open.

I'm going to replace the thermostat and will report back next week when I get to it. Thanks guys

What does CC say ? Should be 83-85c under light work, but unless remapped will probably climb to 95c under prolonged full power.

We have similar thing with a 7530 would run cold under idle or low load but when working gets up to temp fine replaced all the thermostats but still runs 10c lower under low loads not sure if there is another problem somewhere but dosnt seem to effect it in anyway.

Engine and transmission seem to be running at 60°c. Talking to local mechanic, we will replace the thermostats. If that doesn't do it, could be viscous fan at fault.

Is the tractor remapped? Had a class remapped and on light duties it would run cooler. Not as low on the gauge as the picture tho.

Is the viscous fan running all the time?

Just to follow up on this. The thermostats fixed the problem and it now running in the mid 80s
