If a new one was say £35,000 and you spread its cost over a long working life compared to a ha.
rd worked second hand one for £18,000 plus a fair bits for new parts, the new has to be a no brainer surely.
I bought a new claydon and have done a bit of outside work but dont have time to do much, but its sat in my shed and would last me out unless I change it for a lower disturbance drill, or convert it to one
Either that or get a contractor to do it
 
The way I see it if you can budget for establishing your crops including fuel for £23 acre then a new one looks favourable enough for 400 acres plus a year.

I'm not saying they are cheap because they are not but if it means you can drill quickly, save some fuel, lower your tractor hours and reduce your HP then its feasible to have a new one.
