There is making a profit and scraping a crap living though, there is a difference. He summed up the situation spot on imo as usual.

Ok---to clarify, there are plenty making a profit after all wages (including family), interest on borrowings , pensions and investments ---without a landowning subsidy

how much profit though? enough to still make money with a few bad price years and failed crops thrown in? enough to justify the land/time and investment? what % profit do you consider to be acceptable?

if thats really the case their subsidy must be going back to gov anyway as tax
