I remember reading a piece he did on "the sustainable agricultural policy of the UK" he basically asked, was there one, and likened DEFRAs ideas for the English as them wanting it to be a "John Constable" type industry.

A perceptive man, and a sad loss to agricultural Journalism

Sat next to him on a train from aberdeen to edinburgh, some of the fantastic story's about visiting and meeting farmers made a long journey very pleasant. Sad loss indeed.

A name I've always heard spoken highly of but not being in the North knew very little about. Very surprised to see that he was only 43. Because of his high reputation and the reference often made to his P&J articles by those I know in Aberdeenshire I expected him to be some kind of old sage on farming matters.
Condolences to Family.
