Got a problem with the reverser
Took cover off and the pump is turning the cog but no reverse big cog just spinning but no movement of the elevator
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Looking at it this morning (before the cattle decided the break out) I think the mechanism is seized as cable not doing much and with a little hammer persuasion got it working so will try and unseize first and go from there
(Cattle where they should be now 👍)

It'll be dry on the shaft.
When you engage reverser it powers the hydraulic motor but the cable engages a dog inside the biggest of the 2 chain sprockets(the back one).
If not used much shaft will be dry and or rusty.
Ours wouldn't engage this year so plenty of wd40 get someone to engage the lever in the cab and then gently tap the arm that the cable is attached to.
Once ours engaged it wouldn't disengage and when we put the header into gear normally it was running the hydraulic pump backwards but once we'd lubricated it and worked it in and out a few times it was fine.

I'd definitely do the above before stripping it down to investigate the key.

you should have said you were a livestock farmer.
Go to your local dealer and ask for some thing called a grease gun and some grease.
Apply liberally to everything in sight :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
seriously do not use too large a hammer to free these things and it may be worth trying to get some lube such as WD 40 down the cable if that is the issue
All these things will tend to seize with age and dust
Excelent advice on here being 35 years since I ran one of these I had forgotten the dog clutch
Were a good machine but suffer from fracturing of the hydraulic pipes under the cab
