John Deere 2066

I have been considering a john Deere 2066 combine vs Tx 65 or somthing along those lines or Mf 38 /40
Can you advise on pros cons etc only for a couple hundred acres and not life or death if we have a breakdown as most mechanics and electric problems can be sorted
There be quite a lot of new Holland fans but the TX range does hold a slight premium in price so well aware of that it’s more the niggles that I could do with discovering

tx65 is a great combine we had one never gave any trouble it is a five walker the others you are looking at are 6 so will have more output

I have looked at a couple of tx 68 but the tin below the elevators was wearing thin and below the table auger so decided they were pushed a little bit harder But not a problem to replace just the price tag wasn’t allowing for the wear

Drove a 2066 in 99 in Lincolnshire with 25ft there a very good combine never missed a beat all season great long throat on them no self levelling was a curse on hills the 2266 has it she didn't disgrace herself in a fleet of 2 Tf 46 and 4 Tf78.I got a tf78 the following year they were a great combine as well

The 2200 series was supposed to cure all the initial problems found in the 2000 series. We had a 2256 for ten years, and it was a simple, steady, reliable and cheap to run combine.

2066 was a great combine ,ran one for 10 years and apart from the bearing on the bubble up auger(easy repair and onlty takes an hour to do yourself)very few other problems with it.Ours had had a hard life before we got it but had been looked after and the only big expence we had was when we snapped the main drive shaft that goes through the combine and we had to have the dealer out to help but langer had all the bits and was going by lunchtime the next day.
