John Deere 3040 High Gear prob !

Hi Guys,

My JD 3040 has suddenly decided it doesn't want to go into the high box !

Lever was solid. Can get it into low box forward and reverse. Bit if I move lever to the right and push forward... nope !

* Update,. managed to get it in gear,. but extremely difficult !

Anyone any ideas ?

I assume it's an SG2 tractor??
Have you still got the rubber boot fitted to the underside of the cab floor?? They can fill with rubbish.
Is it still difficult with the engine off, does it grind as it goes into gear?? Does the gear lever move to the right position without selecting the gear or will it not move at all??

Yes it's an SG2. No rubber boot all rods and levers exposed. It's very stiff engine on or off. Doesn't grind.
I can get 1,2,3,4 no probs and low forward reverse. The low left right shift works too. Just hard to go into high box. I had though of something jamming it,. but can't see anything.

work the linages by hand and see if theres a seized joint or stone jamming the linkage
