I am on my second so quite a bit of experience although i am not the main driver. It spends most of its time pulling a tanker and 12m shoe, also cultivating and anything else we throw at it. They are good, pull really well. Everything out of the farm is uphill so it gets worked hard on the road. Standard JD cab and i like the command pro joystick, it’s a step up from the old type although buttons you can’t see take a little learning. zit lifts and handles a 6 furrow plough with no problem, only a 800 kg weight on the front. Reliability not too bad, i would have to look at the records but both have had warranty claims. Niggly little stuff mostly but the current one has just had a viscous fan at 3500 hrs. Has also been a break issue. I don’t think the build quality is as good as it used to be, we have a cracked plastic panel in the cab for no reason. And the rear window lock gave up. The old one had the common windscreen rattle that was a recall fix.

I always find it quite ungainly on the road, i think the suspension could be better. The hitch lock is currently playing up, it’s a design that jd should ditch. With 710 42 tyres all the connections are too high up to reach especially the air and i’m 6 foot tall. Finally the safety that cuts the drive when you lean out of the back to see what you are doing will drive you insane.

All in all they are definitely worth looking at, when it comes to changing the one we have i expect there will be another. I can’t persuade my brother to have a fendt yet 😂

Thankyou, we'll mainly be using it for our 4000g tanker with 9m dribble bar and onland ploughing with our 6furrow lemken jewel 8. Currently run claas tractors and like them but looking at the 250r as an extra tractor on the farm for the heavier work.

Why not a 800 series Claas?

Cheap 2nd hand.

I have been looking but doesn't seem to be any with all the spec I'm needing, GPS, isobus, front linkage etc. I do agree they are great value though.

There's hardly any about at all.

I fancied one, but the fact there so rare kind of set alarm bells ringing. Had a demo and was lovely tractor.

600s and 900s seem more popular.

One would be perfect for your tanker, mine is 16.5 cube so slightly smaller than yours. Tanker runs on power beyond a treat. You may have to push the front wheels out to get minimum turning circle. My 6250 has been on the diet feeder, it is a very flexible machine.

The M cab is a step back in time, even worse if you don't have IVT and everything on the right arm rest.

R cabin feels more spacious but I still don't think it can hold a candle to a Valtra cabin.
Cheers, are the cabs the same frame size but?? Its hard to tell on internet.

If i cant afford to upgrade my 7614 to front suspension, i will need to order better seat at the very least etc and see if i cant improve cab suspension system which seems to f all.

Its only got 600hrs on it dealer not keen to trade.

Totally different cab on the R series.

M cab is the same frame and size from the mid 90s.

R cab is bigger it's a chunk wider and longer there's more floor space .

Personally I still like the smaller cab nowt wrong with the R cab but I just prefer the old one me and the dog fall out less over floor space in the R tho

Looking at buying a used 6250r, 4000ish hrs, are they as good as they're cracked up to be? What are people's experiences? A future classic?

I know somebody with two and he loves them. Versatile size and good power to weight ratio. Up till this year they did everything for him but he's now finding them to heavy for fert/spraying so has bought a used 6030 series and put it on some flotation tyres. His last one brand new pretty much fully loaded was £178k on farm though!

The average John Deere customer is bigger, stronger, more virile and obviously more successfull than an average farm machinery customer. As such, their machines have been optimised for their customer base, which is why you, at a paultry 6 feet tall are struggling to couple your implements to it. They simply are designed for people like you. A Massey Ferguson or New Holland might be more suitable.

Joking aside, the new 9S has the spool block pointing down so you can push the hose up and into the SCV. I'd probably still need to stand on a stool though, being a short arse.

Having priced all the main brands recently, for a slightly smaller model, there's not much between them, MF was the cheapest then not much between valtra, NH, JD and fendt all of them with all the toys on them, I've said before either the NH was expensive or the rest were cheaper than expected! I bought a JD but that was more to do with dealer back up/attitude when we had a big combine problem last year !
