Due to a slight change of direction, looking at a 6320. Are these a good used tractor?

Mainly for Post knocking, Hedge cutting and harvest duties.

Are the early common rail engines sound? Any problems or niggles to look for in this area?power quad is a good gear box, 40kph and front suspension ?

Any problems to look out for other than the obvious.

Advice appreciated [emoji106]

I had a 2003 6220 one which was changed for a 2007 6230.
The 6220 was more fuel efficient than the 30 series and gave far less trouble.
The 30 series was the last JD we had due to issues and heavy on fuel.

We have two! One of ours is 2004 and has a loader on, been practically bombproof other than a couple of fuel issues, so can’t complain. The other is 06 and has air con and an extra spool, this one seems to pull better and overall feels a better tractor even though they’re meant to be the same! Great tractors overall though, and front suspension makes the difference.

The common rail can be a problem due to the unreliability of Bosch VP44 injection pump on the early models.
Thats incorrect. The VP44 is not common rail. Its a standard distributer pump with electronic managment and fitted up to 2003 in the 20 series. The electronics in the pump suffered from over heating and eventually dying. In a lot of respects it's a much simpler engine than the common rail. No electronic injectors or EGR etc.

You are correct, the common rail was NipponDenso. I was just making the point that the electronic VP44 was seen as more problematic compared to the mechanical Stanadyne on the 2 valve base models

Egr only on 30 series?
I did wonder whether I was right when I wrote it as not sure TBH. Only 20 series i've had anything to do with (6420S in my profile pic) had a VP44. I forgave it for having the pump die as their was little else to go wrong on the engine.

Could you tell me some names who is buying second hand John deeres to resell? Like JF agricultural etc. I have a decent 6420s that I want to sell or exchange for a bigger machine. The locals want only cheap scrap and are not interested in mechanically sound machines with higher price.
