Looking at second hand 6920 , Ivt , tls etc , has done approx 7000 hrs
Anything in particular to look at , they say ivt has been inspected and is good , do these tractors have any noteworthy issues

Yes. Head Gasket, rockshaft, Panhard rod. Lots of threads on here. Most relatively straightforward and easy to fix. Search the forum. Aswell as the autopower obviously.

Autopower ones are cheap compared to power shifts.
Suppose the balance is purchase price against £12k of trans work possibility?

Exchange perhaps. There’s lots of tools required for repair. New transmission 10k ish plus fitting. Probably not the end of the world these days.

They will supply any part except the hydro unit as it’s not cost effective, I confirmed this with them at lama.
I’ve stripped a few auto powers over the years and it’s nothing to complex, just clutches and epicyclic gear sets. I did go on the training corse when they first came out though and have the training/test manuals for 6#10/20 series ZF transmission and the 7#20 series jd transmission.
At the end of the day a gear is a gear, so if you can confidently strip one gearbox you can strip any.

Must have got the parts out the back door at zf. They won’t supply individual parts.
Don’t think there’s anything back door about it, the original auto power was on license to jd and jd made ZF stop distributing parts to there dealers.
I would think the licensing has now finished and nytp has negotiated a deal with a ZF distributor/re-manufacturers to supply exchange boxes and parts, however ZF are still highly unlikely to deal directly with joe public for parts I would think.

Looks as if we may be better to keep a distance from these transmissions , did think they would be good for mowing and bailing , but certainly don't want bills down the track that are potentially worth more than the tractor itself. Thanks for all the responses, just the sort of info we were after.
