John Deere 7710 gear problem

Been drilling today and when turning at end of bout occasionally first gear won’t engage.can go to second and then drop down to first and it’s fine but sometimes won’t go into first.its a power quad transmission.all other gears are fine and no noise or warning lights.im thinking the cables need adjusting under the console.anyone had similar problems.just reached 7000 hours

When I first got mine E gear was a bast#£d to get, plenty of WD40 on the selector shafts over the course of a few weeks sorted it and it’s been fine ever since.
