John Deere Autopowr

Hi everyone,

Can anyone shed any ‘genuine’ light on the price of an exchange Autopowr gearbox for a 2003 6920s?
I’ve heard so far prices ranging from 7k to 15k!
Or, can they be repaired, can parts be sourced?
Thank you..

We stock exchange transmission, which come with a 12 month unlimited hour warranty, the price differs slightly with various models, but after sending your old transmission back it's usually just under £10k

We can also supply all the parts to repair these transmissions if you have someone with some experience of rebuilding transmissions, depending on what the problem is, repairing may be a viable option.

There is a guy in Germany who repairs them for, if memory serves me, 6000€. I seem to recall his name is Hans Meier. He is on the internet. Use google translate to do a search in German and you will find him. I understand he did mine through a third and fourth party. I so far can’t fault it, however mine came to far more than his fee once the other two parties had added their profit! It pays to do your research as involving a dealer will get you shafted!

Their not beyond the wit of man to repair if you can get the parts,
Testing system pressures, seal leaks etc at 400+ bar will be challenging as there are few and far between test rigs that will do that.

Mechanically they are a cinch, one hydro pump and one or perhaps two drive motors and the magic input planetary (which had a habit of self destructing in early JD varios).

Also testing/calibrating the electrical side is nigh on impossible if you haven't got access to a dianostic program.

True but there's not many indie mechanics as good as Warren and if I remember right he only went so far with that repair as they decided to put the tractor in California's scrappage scheme so it only needed to be able to move.
Seem to remember it had done nearly 20,000 hours though so too bad.
