John Deere pickup hitch calibration

Morning all

Anyone know the calibration sequence for the John Deere pickup hitch? Need to adjust it a touch on a 6920s and possibly a 6190r.

Before anyone says adjust it on the back this is not the solution in this instance it is the calibration on the dash required

Thanks in advance

Calibrate an autohitch on the dashboard? Tell us more!

Do you perhaps mean the calibration of the three point linkage, possibly to raise high enough to allow the pickup hitch hooks to be pulled out of the way?

That's the one, I thought by saying pickup hitch then I wouldn't get told to make all the various adjustments on the three point linkage or pickup hitch outside.

It is as you said the calibration for the three point linkage it can be done via the dash

Why not shorten the rods too get your hitch too lift a wee bit more?

I think the OP wants to calibrate the three point linkage to ensure it is working properly and importantly to ensure it lifts to its full height

If it’s not quite lifting to it’s full height, shortening the rods isn’t really fixing the problem...

I found out the hard way that a bit of wear on the hook means you have to get the arms to exactly the right spot to unload pin......then another day it was just wrong and hitch bottoms out on backend casting...I paid for several visits trying to achieve the perfect set-up, then threw the hook in the bin and problem solved. I wonder why our local didn't mention it;)

To answer the op’s question, yes the lift can be calibrated through the dash or with a performance monitor.
However if you need to ask if it can be done the reality is it’s not a job to undertake yourself, get someone who knows how to do the “calibration process” properly and knows what to do if (when) it doesn’t go to plan and throws some faults up. It’s not a simple case of push button A and sit back.

Did the calibration a couple of times myself, not a big deal, just need to know the sequence and warp up the oil in hydraulic system. Not sure about the pick-up rods though (to disconnect or not)

How will taking the lift rods off help? I really can't see that achieving much, we tried adjusting these last time but it's not the correct way of doing it and it doesn't work.

Regarding your post Phil I'm not asking if it can be done, I know it can and if the lad from the dealership can do it as per last time. Then anyone can if they have the details which JD like to keep secret.

It is not a laptop or performance monitor only job it is on the dash.

I had mine done last month, dealer did it as it’s under power guard. It was all done on the screen?!? Sorry not much help to you but if you do do it yourself the fitter was telling me some stories of other fitters forgetting to take off the lift rods and them snapping with such force it broke a rear window and damaging their vans and anything close!

If the calibration results in much extra lift height, then the hitch lift rods will be too short and may well be stretched or some other parts will bend.
Since this was not obvious to you, I suggest you let the dealer fix it and hope that the 'technician' has a clue.

Also the lowering cycle may be affected as bent hitch rods can on occasion prevent the linkage from falling completely to the end of the ram stroke. Yes the procedure can be done through the on board screen but is far from straight forward, even for those who frequently utilise the calibration menus as others have pointed out. The calibration procedure is no great secret but would fill pages to write it out, hence the lack of interest...

Unlike the "technician" who bent one of the lift rods when calibrating our JD

Duck I wouldn't go assuming too much, nowhere did I mention I'd be leaving them on. I was purely saying that without the full sequence taking them off will not achieve anything and would not help as the adjustment via the lift rod was not enough
