The big one was the Waterloo Tractor Company 101 years ago, Up until then they had only made a prototype tractor of their own. The purchase of Lanz heralded their big push into Europe while more recently they have been looking more towards digital technology with Blue River and Precision Planting. There have been others along the way.

You're right, the JD deal was blocked by the US dept of Justice, I hadn't realised that.

Mchale is not for sale at any money , the Mchale name is a family name who run their own company , the next generation Mchale men are now coming up to the top of the company , and their goal is to continue to grow the business , they also are growing a large property portfolio, so fair play to Mchales , who started in the west of Ireland in a small farm shed making bale lifters. It will be a long day before they sell out.

You're right, the JD deal was blocked by the US dept of Justice, I hadn't realised that.

I remember at the time on some north American forums a lot of people were shocked as they thought it was a done deal to go to jd.

Never say never but that would be a huge and very expensive step, I can't see it myself TBH, they have nothing to base it on, no forage harvester or powered machine, the whole thing would be completely new to them and they didn't get the relatively simple mowers right the first time, although they are well sorted now.

However, where do they go next? I've a feeling we'll have to wait unti Agritechnica to find out.
