Jorvik Odin electric Mountain trike

Does anyone use one of these on farm? The wet fields are hard work for an ordinary e-bike, and I'm not a natural bike rider. This looks good, but York is too far for me to go to try it. I assume road legal is best, but does the 500w motor go faster than 4mph using just the throttle on farm? I Want to move stuff, see our wildlife check the crops daily which runs the dogs, 1572191251304.pngas I walk too slowly. I love the quiet of the e-bike, freedom and no need for petrol.

It looks more like something you would find staff on a holiday park using on hard surfaces ,,I wouldnt want to try it across a wet field ,the gear change hangs very low and would soon get full of muck

Stick some quad tyres on the back, it’s probably ok for crop inspection. Wouldn’t be much use in a wet field, especially here recently where my 4x4 Yam has being having difficulty.

Thank you, Hope it's ok to reply to you all in one go.

I don't know why they picked the derailleur, is it cheaper? It is sold as an off road bike.

The gear change is probably a similar height to the one on my short person's step-through e-bike. The derailleur has been remarkably tolerant for several years until it got caught last week, and now definitely needs replaced. My bike is for 'light off road use'. It has been used daily in the field since last harvest as it avoids going on the road.

I removed the back mudguard a while back after the back wheel was jammed solid by packed clay twice in one week, when we were half way back up the hill and home, which has helped. Apart from punctures it has always got me back. I'm cycling in an arable field on chalk, which helps, after we used a stubble rake, which doesn't, and try to avoid the worst patches, I'd call it a bit muddy, but you may have much better mud..

Thanks for the quad bike tyre advice, it is difficult getting half decent off road tyres to fit my 24" wheels, the 20" ones will be worse.

Using a different bike tonight, it ended up with one side of a clay tyre mould, on nobby nics. I couldn't see the tread at all for clay.

I hope the trike will be more stable when its wet, as occasionally the back wheel slides sideways and I hit the ground, usually when I get distracted by wildlife, tonight it was a bunny, usually it is deer, a tractor rut or the view.

Jorvik also show the Odin on snow, which I don't go out on on 2 wheels, it was fresh and soft and very quick for that lesson. They say they sell well to farmers at the Highland show, often with the larger motors.

Alternative vehicles I wondered about would be an electric youth quad, cheaper, lighter and quieter than a standard far one, most seem to have short warranties. There is also a 3 wheel tramper, which is legal on roads and footpaths, but not pedaling at all is a mixed blessing. More expensive too.

My preference is red, brighter and tractor colour!
