Just a cold....

I think a lot of pharmacists can't really give you anything worthwhile for a cold or the flu, most over the counter medicines are just a crock because you are battling a virus, all you can do is eat, drink and be merry in bed as best you can. The trick is recognising when these symptoms are pneumonia or bronchitis or something more sinister.
@ollie989898 If you tell them the symptoms that annoy you the most then they will supply the drugs that suppress these the best. They often can't do all the symptoms at once because the drug combo would either argue with each other and do nothing, or kill you. They will supply drugs that you cannot buy in aisles, that need an expert to dispense them because they are rather dangerous when mixed with others randomly.
A good pharmacist is a great person to have and will tell you when you need to see a doctor and probably what they need to prescribe to you.

If you don't believe me please do just try it, you may find it very useful and a great time saver.

When I was an accountant I was involved the financial audit of a pharmacy. I had a dreadful cold at the time and as for many audits, work was done at the client premises not at our office. As I was leaving for home on the Friday when I really felt rotten I asked the pharmacist whether there was anything other than the usual paracetamol based products I should be taking. He recommended a day in bed with a bottle of whisky. He was exceptionally handsome and had an adorable Scottish (Highlands) accent. I would much rather have spent the day in bed with him but I didn't even feel up to that (and I probably wasn't looking very sexy at the time!
Q: Do you know the difference between a cold and the flu? A: You are laid on the couch feeling sorry for yourself and looking down on the floor you notice a £20 note. If you get off the couch and pick it up , its a cold . If you look at it and say "Oh sod it , I don't give a bugger it can stay where it is!" its The flu.
