I would never do it, I hate the idea of ringing bulls but that may save peoples lives, like farrowing crates.

We used to do it. But gave up because it was stressful for man and beast, and didn't stop them rooting anyway.

Exactly, It didn't work unless done repeatedly, until you ran out of room on the nose! I still have the pliers somewhere.
