Keeping Canada geese

Hi I recently rescued a Canada goose hit by a car and then let it go after a few weeks of looking after it. Ever since that I have wanted to have a Canada goose as a pet but heard that they’re migratory birds. If I was to keep a pair in my garden how would I stop it from flying away and where would I be able to buy a pair. Regards, Bill

When we were kids one of the houses in the village had a pet goose called Smirnoff. It used to swim in the pool. The only advice I can give is that house training is a challenge ??

Try Ross on wye bird sales - they usually have a couple of sales each year. My farther bought a pair of Canada geese there years ago.

Ohhhhh, I think I got you now but I’d rather buy captive so theyres no diseases and I’d have a better chance of taming it thanks anyway mate.

Why do you want one instead of a domesticated breed?
Toulouse Geese have a very similar appearance without all that fighting to get away from you stuff.

Amazing how much they eat! We have about 500 whooper swans and 200 geese residing from October to April on our silage leys.

Sorry for going OT but they drive me mad!
