Is this the type of thing in question? Genuinely only been stood outside 12 months since having a change around in the yard. Located near Grantham.

Ah, Happy Days - The Kidd straw chopper. My guvnor bought one in 1974 and when went to hitch it up to my 7000 I had to cut the PTO shaft to nearly nothing. Adam Kidd, Archie's son, came to have a look as we were only 3 miles from the factory. It turned out that they developed the thing to fit their MF which had longer lower links meaning that the chopper was further back from the tractor. Bit of a redesign! But good bit of kit once modified.

Similar thing when we trialled their 7T Fymax for them - The axle was too far forward, and as the spreader emptied all the weight went to the back and subsequent weight transfer caused total loss of traction, even on my 7000.

Adam Kidd's answer - "We'll weld a tank on the front & fill it with water."
'No you tit, just move the axle back 18" or so!'
Not the engineer that Father was!

The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree except sometime it hits a lot of branches on the way down apparently. Lol

A friend of mine brought loads of these old Kidd choppers and exported them to rose growers in Holland and Belgium . I think Les Carter found him most of them .
